Don't outsource
your intelligence to Artificial Intelligence.
Don't
just seek for the solution, the final product, but work on the process, on the reasoning,
on the research: research comes first and is more important than the solution.
Don't
be afraid of making mistakes: mistakes help us grow and become better; mistakes
help us improve research and what we're researching. Error is like doubt: both
are needed to become better as people and as scholars.
Artificial
Intelligence focuses only on the final answer and erases everything else: the
questions, the doubt, the research, the effort of connecting knowledge and
science. Believe in your intelligence and in your abilities, which are far
superior than the fictitious digital, technological, and computer ones.
Dear PhD Students, plan, always plan. Make the future a
perpetual construction site. Make your intelligence, your culture, and your
preparation the building blocks of a new tomorrow. Read, read a lot, always
study and stay up-to-date, get informed from multiple sources, write, analyze the
facts, and don't settle for the opinions of the "scientist" of the
moment, because he might just be the "servant" of the moment. Always
look "behind the scenes," because the "front" could be
false. Doubt with creative doubt, because to innovate, you need to doubt. May
the words of the great Italian poet Montale be your warning and guiding star:
"Further beyond." Your horizons know no bounds: always go
"Further beyond".
